History

The Department of Geodesy was established in 1946 at the faculty of Land Surveying of Lviv Agricultural Institute. M. V. Solovyov was the first head of the Department. Demobilized from the army after war B. V. Goldyryev, R. I. Yatsenko and L.O. Pelekh were among the first teachers of the Department.

In 1988 the reorganization of some Departments took place in the institute. As a result the Department of Melioration and Hydrotechnics became a part of the Department of Geodesy and such teachers as V. G. Grushchenco, S. M. Vashchyk, L. V. Zayachkivska, V. Moroz became members of the staff of the Department of Geodesy too. Later on the Department got a new name such as the Department of Geodesy and Hydro-melioration. In 2007 taking into account new tendencies and the directions of the development of Geodesy, needs of agriculture of Ukraine the Department was renamed into the Department of Geodesy and Geo-informatics.

Geodesy, Advanced Geodesy, Engineering Geodesy, Topography with Elements of Cartography, Principles (Essentials) of Geodesy, Geodesic Equipments, Topographic and Land Surveying Drawing, Photogrammetric and Distance Searching, Satellite Geodesy, Geo-informatics Systems and Technologies, Mathematical Calculation of Geodesic Dimensions, Digital Cartography, Digital Processing of Representation, Aerospace Surveying Systems.

The Department takes part in international, republican and regional exhibitions and conferences. According to the materials of scientific researches 76 articles are published, among them 22 articles - in international editions. More than 90 reports have been made at the international and republican conferences.
